Temple and Tiger Tour
An ideal and unbeatable tour for the family exploring both the vibrant culture and wonderful wildlife of India. The Indian Culture has always placed the highest importance of Family Values; this is perhaps why this civilisation is one of the oldest in the world and despite the day to day trials that extreme poverty brings and living in the proximity of the some of the most dangerous animals on the planet; is still thriving. The friendliness and openness of the local people in India is a true inspiration for mankind. It is therefore no surprise that some of the most majestic and inspirational architecture can be found here, monuments so fine and ahead of their time that they have stood the test of time. Coupled with this the experience of a truly Indian Tiger Safari in search of one of the most fearsome predators in the world. There really is nothing quite like the excitement and exhilaration that one feels when they get their first glimpse of this magnificent creature in the wild.
We’ll start our tour in the “Pink City” Jaipur, one of the most beautiful and interesting Cities in the world. Exploring Jaipur we will visit the Jantar Mantar, and Observatory Post which was built between 1728 and 1734. Taking a close look at each of the instruments will reveal that each serves a particular function and remarkably to this day still provides accurate readings. Apart from this the City also has numerous museums containing many ancient artefacts from the Mogul Period.
From here we will make our way to Ranthambhore National Park, nestled in the confluence of the Vindhyas and Aravali range deriving its name from a historic 1000 years old fort that lies on top of the hills. A Tiger Safari in Ranthambhore is a truly remarkable experience, as a throw back to the days the Maharajas used their back gardens as private hunting grounds for the Tiger. Started by Jaipur Maharaja as a hunting preserve it became one of the nine core zones under Project Tiger (a Tiger conservation project) by 1972. Ranthambhore no doubt is one of finest tiger reserves in India. Dotted with hundreds of small monuments all over the park scenic Padam Talao, Malik Talao and Raj Bagh, with the spectacular fort in the background adds to the picturesque topography of the park. Dry deciduous forest type and sparse undergrowth makes game easier here that most other Indian parks. Tiger dominates the list of predators here followed by leopard, very elusive Caracal and Jungle Cat. The prey species includes Chital, Sambar, Nilgai (Blue Bull), Chinkara Gazelles. Omnivorous complete the list with Wild Boar and Sloth Bear. Scavengers like Striped Hyena, Jackal, Mongoose and the Common Fox are also seen here. The bird checklist of Ranthambhore is over 300 species.
Our last stop will be the Taj Mahal. A World Heritage Site, this most beautiful monument of love was built during the 1600’s taking 22 years to build by grieving emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaj Mahal. It is flawless in its conception and execution. It is said that Taj Mahal is something that can not be described in words – one has to see it to experience it and watching the Sunrise or Sunset over the Taj is an experience you will never forget.
