Trail of The Tiger
The ultimate Tiger Tour! For those of you with your heart set on seeing a Tiger, then this is one not to miss. This is our most popular tour due to its unbeatable Bargain price. Most Tiger tours take you only to Madhya Pradesh limiting the variety of habitat and species you may see on your tour. On this tour we visit 3 of the premium Tiger “Hotspots” in India, whilst trying to show you the varying habitats that Tigers are able to live in. We’ll take you to some of the most famous Tiger Reserves which are known for their Tiger Sightings. Starting at Delhi we’ll catch the train to Sawai Madhopur from where it is only a few kilometres to Ranthambhore National Park, which is set around the 1000 year old Ranthambhore Fort, taking you back to a time that Maharaja’s could literally see Tigers in their back gardens. Ranthambhore was until recently the premier place in the world to shoot Tiger Documentaries, with the majority of all Tiger documentaries shot here. Due to the dry arid habitat Tiger Sightings are relatively high in this park and the lighting for photographing Tigers is excellent. As well as Tigers other mammals seen here are Caracal, Ratel,Striped Hyena and the Wolf
From here we will transfer by train to Madhya Pradesh, commonly referred to as “Tiger Country”. It is in this state that Rudjard Kipling drew his inspiration for his classic, “The Jungle Book”. Two of the finest parks of this state are Bandhavgarh and Kanha. We start our Tiger exploration of Madhya Pradesh in Bandhavgarh, a relatively new National Park of 168sq kms set among the Vindhya hills of Madhya. This is also known as White Tiger country. They have been found in the old state of Rewa for many years, with the last known one captured by Maharaja Martand Singh in 1951 and is now stuffed and on display in the Palace of the Maharaja of Rewa. Some other notable wildlife that can be seen here are Gaur, Chinkara, Dhole and Striped Hyena
Our last park is Kanha National Park, at 1200sq kms it is one of the largest reserves in India. Famous for its population of Swamp Deer it is also an integral Tiger Reserve of Project Tiger. It is one of the best places in the world for viewing Tigers due to its open and lush meadows and perfect Sal Forests, the ideal Tiger habitat. Kanha is also known for its sightings of Sloth Bear, Gaur, Chausingha and the Dhole.
All of these parks are renowned for their sightings of Tiger and although one can never guarantee anything when it comes to wildlife, the possibility of Tiger sightings is very high on this tour.
